More 2008 mystery awards have been handed out for books written in 2007 and there are two novels which have nearly swept the various awards.
The Best Novel/Mystery award from Mystery Writers of America (Anthony Award), Boucheron World Mystery Convention (Barry Award) and Mystery Readers International (Macavity Awards).
The Best First Novel/Mystery award from the same three organizations listed above. (The follow-up novel, The Likeness, was released in July.)
Both of these novels are shelved in our Fiction section and both involve cold cases linked to current crimes and the investigators. Laura Lippman writes the Tess Monaghan mystery series, but also has written 3 non-series titles, including What the Dead Know.
Here are several other award-winning mysteries:
Crime Writer’s Association award for best new novel (John Creasey New Blood Dagger Award)
The Watchman by Robert Crais (Elvis Cole/Joe Pike series)
Received a Barry Award for best thriller.
These two titles are in our Mystery section.
The Anthony Award for best Mystery Website went to Stop, You’re Killing Me! (http:stopyourekillingme.com). I’ve mentioned this site before as one of my favorites. You can search by author or character and find a listing of all the books in chronological order. There are many other search features, including job, location, and historical indexes, and readalikes.
On a sad note:
