February is National Library Lover's Month!
I'll give you a moment to stop cheering. That's right, dear readers, there is a month totally dedicated to awesome patrons like you! Whether you're here for books, or movies, programs, classes, or Internet access, there is something for everyone at the library! We offer 3D printing, a VHS to DVD transfer station, and there are tons of places to sit and read or study. As a life-long learner myself, the library has always been my favorite place to be. There is so much to learn about, including topics I would never have thought to check out. Just from where I'm sitting right now, I can see books about dog breeding, eating healthy, Darwin, and going to college.
By now I'm sure you're wondering: How do I celebrate National Library Month? Well, dear reader, there are a few things you can do:
First, is to come to the library. Keep using our services. Maybe try something new. We have a whole list of awesome databases to choose from, and access is free with your library card! If you're not sure where to start, I suggest trying a few of my personal favorites: Learn a new Language with Mango. Find your next read with NoveList. Finally identify that flowering tree in the library parking lot with What Tree Is It?.
Check out a library display. We pride ourselves on our displays. Come on in, see what we have to offer you this month, and maybe check something out. It might not be your usual read, but you never know...you might find something that really fascinates you. Just as a sampler, this month we have books on LEGOs, Romance novels, Black History Month, and a fine selection of titles with red covers.
Join the Winter Reading Program. Do you enjoy reading? Do you enjoy winning prizes? If you said yes to both of these questions, then you should join us for our Winter Reading Program. No registration is necessary. Just read or listen to a book, ebook, or audiobook between January 29th and February 25th and fill out a form either at the Ask Us or Reference desks or online for a chance to win.
Attend a Program. We have a selection of programs and classes, both one-time events and monthly ones, (like the Maker Club or The Horror Film Club), Book Discussions, and more. Learn about vacationing in Italy with the Travel Club, relax with some cookies and coloring pages, or learn how to use Windows 10. Best of all, all of these programs and classes are completely free!
Support the Friends of the Library. The Friends are the best! Whether providing us funding for programming and improvements or simply treating the staff once in a while, they are always supportive of all that we do. You can support the Friends by signing up for a membership, or by shopping at Portables Gift Shop and the Book Nook.
Libraries continue to grow and change and expand our services because of awesome patrons like you! I hope you have a very Happy National Library Lover Month and will stop by to see us soon!
