Greetings Edge Readers:

I’m back again, as promised, with more information on our speaker for this Thursday’s program,
The Rays of LightLinda Street.

Linda’s educational background includes a BA in Psychology and a MA in Public Administration. She has years of work experience in both the Mental Health field and in Human Resources and currently runs her own business, Healing From Your Heart, right here in Westlake, where she practices in-person and distance energy healing.

She’s a Third Degree Reiki Master and certified in numerous other energy therapies, including  IET (Integrated Energy Therapy), Diamond Light Therapy, and ARCH (Ancient Rainbow Conscious Healing). She is a member of the Cleveland Chapter of the International Coach Federation.

The Rays of Light is a healing therapy channeled from higher consciousness through Linda, which she, alone, practices and which is the subject of her new book of the same name. This is the therapy Linda will be discussing on Thursday, along with the process by which it was written.

Linda is a frequent speaker at venues around Ohio and in near-by states. In fact, this will be her third appearance here. In 2012, she presented a program entitled, Healing From Your Heart, and in 2013, she presented Energy Therapy and Chakra Cleansing. Check out her website at www.healingfromyourheart.com for details of her future engagements and for information about her services.

The Sports Section - Summer Events Near and Far

Lots going on with the Cleveland sports scene right now.  First up, this week, (June 5-8) is The Cleveland Open, an event on the web.com golf tour schedule.  The tournament will be played at Lakewood Country Club, right here in Westlake.  For all the details about the event, go to the official site, The Cleveland Open.  Parking for all spectators will be restricted to Crocker Park, with shuttle vans running every 10-15 minutes.  You can also catch the action on the Golf Channel Thursday and Friday from 6:30-9 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 7-9 pm.  Nice to be in the spotlight.

Coming July 3-6 is the Continental Cup International Youth Sports Festival, featuring over 3000 young athletes from all over the world participating in soccer, baseball, and basketball competitions.  Last year 218 teams played more than 500 games on 28 fields/courts.  The Greater Cleveland Sports Commission has all the info on schedules and venues.

The next major golf championship is the U. S. Open, being played at Pinehurst Country Club in Pinehurst, NC from June 9-15.  The defending champion of this tournament, that always concludes on Father's Day, is England's Justin Rose.

One of the premiere sporting events this summer is the FIFA International Men's Football Tournament, better known as the World Cup.  Brazil is the host nation of this once-every-four-years tournament, running from June 12-July 13.  32 teams will compete in 64 matches held at 12 venues, all of which will be televised live on ESPN and its affiliates.  The U.S. team plays its first match against Ghana on June 16 at 6 pm on ESPN.  The early favorite to win it all - Brazil!

Finishing up this week - the French Open tennis tournment played at Roland-Garros.  The Women's Singles Champion of 2013, Serena Williams, is out, but the defending Men's Singles Champion,  Rafael Nadal, continues on towards the finals on Sunday.

This Saturday, June 7, the final leg of racing's Triple Crown will be contested in the Belmont Stakes in New York - the longest of the 3 races.  California Chrome is currently favored to win and become a Triple Crown champion, the first horse to do so since Affirmed in 1978.

And, as always, there's plenty of exciting interest in the Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers right now.  Lots to talk about on all fronts.  Are these the wait-'til-next year seasons all the teams and fans have been waiting for?

Featured books this month - you'll find them in our new book room.

Who is the Yellow King?

The One Literary Reference You Must Know to Appreciate True Detective--
Two episodes into the HBO series, True Detective dropped a reference to one of the strangest, most compelling tales in the canon of weird fiction: Robert W. Chambers' The King in Yellow, a collection of short stories published in 1895. Knowing this book is key to understanding the dark mystery at the heart of this series.
