Reiki Program Follow-Up

Reikiforblog.jpg

Greetings Edge Readers:

I want to follow-up on our Reiki program that took place on Oct. 25. Thanks to everyone who attended and to our speaker, Linda Street, who did a wonderful job.

I've been going through the evaluations and taking note of your comments and suggestions for future programs. Those of you who indicated you're interested in seeing more on Reiki, with more in-depth coverage of the topic, will be happy to know that we will be having Linda back next year for a Reiki 102. We look forward to that. If you suggested programming on other topics, rest assured I have forwarded your suggestions to the appropriate staff members.

Linda Street: Healing From the Heart

Linda's portrait sylized.png

Some of you have been asking me of late, "What is Reiki?" I'll admit my own understanding of it has been very vague. If you're like me, you may have thought, "Isn't it some kind of massage or alternative therapy?"

And if you thought this, the truth is you'd be -- well, let’s say you'd be in the right neighborhood.

Based on some admittedly quick research, Reiki is a methodology that heals by redirecting the energy force that animates us, and sometimes by removing blockages in the flow of that energy. In general, sickness: physical, psychological, spiritual, is attributed to something being wrong with this energy.

So, when you read about Reiki, you come across a lot about the Oriental concepts of Qi and the Chakras, and about the more universal idea of an Energy Body.

You also realize that there's a whole other area of Reiki that appeals to higher forces: to diety, to angels, and to other kinds of "higher consciousness" for help in correcting problems with the flow of this energy. Aligning your energy with the energy that pervades the universe seems to be the key to overall health and well being.

But don't take it from me; this is just me rambling on.

Join us Thursday, October 25, when you can hear it from the mouth of an Expert. Linda Street, Kudalini Reiki Master and Teacher comes to us with a background in Usui Reiki, Tibetan System Natural Healing, Integrated Energy Therapy, Diamond Light Therapy and more.

She’ll speak to us about the Heart Center, guide us in the creation of Aphorisms, and lead us in a brief Meditation. There will be plenty of time for Questions and AnswersYou’ll have an opportunity to Enter to Win a chance to participate in a demonstration of Linda's healing process during the course of the program. Refreshments will be served.

Register in person, online using our event calendar, or call 440-250-5460.

REIKI Program: SAVE THE DATE

reiki with curved border.jpg

Just a quick note to let you all know that I'm planning a Reiki program for the end of next month. Linda Street of Healing From the Heart, formerly, Spoonful of Reiki, will present a program on Thursday evening, October 25. Registration for this event begins Sept 25, so for now, just mark your calendars; I'll be posting more about this in days and weeks to come.

Beginning October 1, I'll have a display of books on Reiki and other forms of Energy Healing at the front of the library near the Information Desk and I'll be putting together some reading lists and some information about our speaker for you to pick up.

I hope you'll plan on joining us. I know I'm looking forward to it; my mind/body could use some fixing.

UFO Followup

blueUFO.jpg

Thanks to everyone who attended our UFO program on August 2. I had to jump on a number of other tasks immediately following the program, so, I’m just now getting around to looking at the evaluations. I can see that there's a lot of interest in this topic and that our speaker did a great job, so we’ll be having him back sometime next year.

I talked to him just as he was leaving and he indicated that the presentation he gave was UFOs 101—so when he returns he will be giving us UFOs 102, meaning he’ll be taking us deeper into the subject matter and providing us with more advanced information. I’m going to let him know the kinds of info you indicated on your evals you're specifically interested in.

UFO Program August 2 UPDATE

CUP+Logo.jpg

Greetings Edge Readers. We've had such a wonderful response to our advertising for the UFO program coming up on August 2 that we've had to up the maximum attendance more than once. We're happy to do that, but since there will be so many of us, we're going to forego the hot beverages and substitute cold ones instead. So, instead of coffee and hot tea, we'll have ice tea and maybe something else, like lemonade, along with cookies and some other snacks.

We don't want to risk anyone getting hot stuff spilled on them. I'm saying this because the last time we had to do this, we had a few very disappointed people in desparate need of a coffee fix.

Also, our speaker has emphasized that he is very interested in learning of your personal experiences with UFOs. The Cleveland Ufology Project is creating a database of UFO sightings and other UFO related experiences. There will be representatives of the Cleveland Ufology Project present to take your reports but we encourage as many of you as possible to write your experiences out, so that you can just turn them in. Be sure to include your name and contact information so that investigators can get back to you with any questions they may have.

What is MUFON?

Some of you have been asking, "What is MUFON"?

MUFON stands for Mutual UFO Network, which is an American Non-profit organization devoted to investigating UFO sightings. MUFON is currently headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio and has over 3000 world-wide members,  The large group is made up of a number of regional and state chapters. Our speaker on August 2, Thomas Wertman, is Chief Field Investigator for MUFON Ohio.

If you watched the TV series X-files, you may remember members of MUFON involved with Fox Muldur and Dana Scully in more than one episode.

Check out the MUFON website at http://www.mufon.com and the Ohio chapter at http://www.mufonohio.com. There's also a nice article in wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MUFON.

If you're interested in attending our program on August 2, you need to register. You can do so at any public service desk, online using our event calendar, or by calling 440-250-5460.  Our doors will open at 6:30 and the presentation will run from 7:00 PM to approximately 8:30 PM.

Have You Had a Close Encounter?

If you’re planning to attend our program on UFOs with Thomas Wertman and you’ve had an experience with UFOs or Alien Life of any kind, yourself, please come prepared to SHARE.

Our speaker is interested in learning of your experiences. There will be a question and answer period at the end of the program—those of you who are not shy can speak up then.

Mr. Wertman will be arriving before 7:00 to make sure that we have no technical glitches—Assuming everything runs smoothly, he’ll be available to chat with some of you, personally, as you come in, so you might want to come a little early. We’ll be serving coffee, tea, and cookies and we’ll have some literature to pick up, so this is always a good idea anyway. Our doors will open at 6:30 pm.
