Join the Friends of Westlake Porter Public Library for the return of Sunday Sounds and bond with "Earthen Elements" with the Vibrant Wind Dancers!

in the Porter Room

The performance of poetry, music and dance depicts Middle Eastern style and interpretive dance and incorporates long flowing skirts and a variety of decorative (and sound making!) hip scarves in the costuming. They also work with beautiful hand dyed nine foot silk veils in all of the dances, making it unique, as well as serene and beautiful!

Refreshments will be served following the performance.

Come to Maker Monday: Google Cardboard on Monday, January 23rd from 7:00-8:30pm in the Dover Room. Explore the world with virtual reality, ride a rollercoaster, and even encounter dinosaurs! Bring your smartphone and (optionally) headphones.

Get Ready for Tax Season

Get ready for tax season by visiting www.irs.gov/getready and find out what changes are in store for the new year! This helpful IRS web page lists changes regarding your Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN), processing refunds, knowing your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI), and protecting taxpayers.

Distribution of Ohio Tax Forms Ending

In recent years the Ohio Department of Taxation has found that only 10% of printed personal income tax returns end up being filed with the state of Ohio. To eliminate this waste of paper, they are ending bulk distributions. Income Tax Instruction booklets, however, will continue to be sent to public libraries.

Playaway Launchpad Tablets for Kids Are Available Now!

On January 9th, WPPL began lending Playaway Launchpads: touchscreen tablets designed for young children that come pre-loaded with fun apps.

The Launchpads will be available to check out for 7 days with no renewals, one per library card. You can find them in the Children’s AV area.

Introducing Roku Kits!

WPPL has begun lending Roku Kits. Each kit contains a small device that plugs in to your television's HDMI port and connects to your WiFi network. Once connected, you can stream any of the movies linked to that device.

Stop by the Ask Us desk to check out a Roku Kit or to find out which movies are available. The kits are available for a 7-day loan with no renewals, one per library card.

Now Collecting Memories and Stories for the Veterans History Project

WPPL is joining the Library of Congress’ Veterans History Project and will begin collecting oral histories from veterans living in the area. The mission of the Veterans History Project is to collect, preserve and make accessible the personal accounts of American wartime veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans in their own words and better understand the realities of war.

New Passport Services


If you need to apply for a passport, you can now do so when you visit the library! WPPL has been trained by the U.S. Passport service to accept applications and fees and to take official passport photos.
