This intertwining of fairy tales, suspense, and mystery is the second novel by writer Carol Goodman, published in January 2003.  Though it has aged a little, it is still an enticing read, and winner of the 2003 Hammett Prize, given by the International Association of Crime Writers, North American Branch (IACW/NA) each year since 1991 to a Canadian or US citizen or permanent resident for a book in English in the field of crime writing.
