Want To Know How You Will Die? There's an Ap For That!

"The Machine of Death", edited by Ryan North (et al.), is an anthology of original stories bound together by a central premise. A machine was invented that can tell how you are going to die. No dates, no details. Just a slip of paper with a few words spelling out your ultimate fate -- at once all-too specific and maddeningly vague.

As we move further into fall, our days are cooler and sunsets arriving sooner.  The comfortable temperatures and beautiful fall foliage coax many of us outside for walking, hiking and biking.

Scare Me To Death in 1000 words or less.

That's the premise of "BRIEF GRISLYS", the new horror anthology selected and edited by John R. Mabry.

Mondegreens

I was just thinking of my son singing a song in the car, and he heard “on my lawn” when the actual lyrics were, “all night long”. Of course, now I can’t remember the song! Anyhoo, that made me think of mondegreens.

October is the perfect time to dive into the oeuvre of Roger Corman!

Popularly known as the "King of the B-Movie", his influence on modern American cinema is almost incalculable. For every quickie "exploitation" film he made, he also delivered well-respected art films or "message" pictures. In 2009, he was honored with an Academy Award for Lifetime Achievement.

There are many ways to lose a sporting contest, but one of the worst has to be a bad call by the officials.  Is there any group in the wide world of sports that takes more abuse than these enforcers of the rules?

Maybe you've commented on occasion that you could do the job better than the professional officials.  In case you want to follow through on that statement, here are some of the requirements and training necessary to become an official of a nationally recognized sport.
