Are you familiar with one of Kristen Bell’s favorite roles, Veronica Mars?  (You might know Kristen Bell from any number of things, but her biggest recent hit was voicing Princess Anna in Frozen.)   If you are, then welcome aboard, marshmallow!  If not, give the Media Maven a chance to intrigue you with an intelligent television show that has expanded to a movie and books. 

It's All About Apps (Part 5): Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) edition

Today the Media Maven is going to cover Autism Spectrum Disorder related apps and technology.  Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) refers to a spectrum of neurodevelopmental disorders that are “characterized by social deficits and communication difficulties, stereotyped or repetitive behaviors and interests, sensory issues, and in some cases, cognitive delays.” (Wikipedia) It seems as though ASD has been increasing, and while that is true, it is unclear if actual cases are rising or there are more instances of diagnosis as its definition has changed and we come to understand more about the disorder.  Whatever the reason, apps can provide a way to bridge learning and communication differences between those with and without ASD.

Did you know that Adult Services has a jam-packed week the first week of December?  Well, maybe not jam-packed, but certainly cheese-cooking-art-music-movie packed!  Though you might be stuffed with turkey from the week before, these programs offer lots of fun and learning, as well as some eating, if you aren’t completely full.  Come join us for any or all of them!
