Robert B. Parker (1932-2010)
One of America's most popular mystery writers passed away on Monday, January 18, 2010. Robert B. Parker, author of the well-known Spenser series, died at his desk while working on another book. He wrote over 60 novels, including 38 Spenser titles. The most recent Spenser mystery, The Professional, was published in October, 2009. His other mystery series characters are Jesse Stone (played by Tom Selleck in the made-for-TV movies) and Sunny Randall, both of whom appear in Split Image, due out in February.
He also created a popular western series featuring Virgil Cole and Everett Hitch. The fourth title in this series (in our fiction section) is scheduled for release later this year.
