Information for the November 4, 2014 Election

Close up of the US flagThe 2014 mid-term elections will take place on Tuesday, November 4th. Here are some sources of information about the issues and seats to be decided this fall.

At the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections’ website, you can find your polling location, preview your ballot, or fill out an application for an absentee ballot. You can also register to vote or change your name or address on this site.

Irish dancers on stageAn instructor from the Leneghan Academy of Irish Dance will be here to teach you the fundamentals of traditional Irish Dance on Thursday, November 6 from 7:00-7:45 pm in the Porter Room.

The Lakeside Unit: Cleveland Medicine in WWI, 11/11, 7pm

Join us on Veterans Day, November 11 at 7:00 pm in the Dover Room, to learn about "The Lakeside Unit," a group of Cleveland’s foremost physicians and surgeons who traveled to Paris in 1915 to tend to injured French and British soldiers.  You can register here.

Sunday Sounds canceled 11/16

The Friends of Westlake Porter Public Library will be unable to present a Sunday Sounds program on November 16 as previously reported in the Notes newsletter.

Happiness: Then & Now, 11/17, 7pm

We all want happiness but how do we reach our goal? Kerry Tobin, Assistant Professor and member of the Tri-C Speakers Bureau will explore the origins of happiness, its history and its evolution on Monday, November 17 from 7:00-8:30 pm in the Dover Room. Register here.

Czech & Slovak Genealogical Research, 11/19, 7pm

Dorothy Titera of the Westlake LDS Family History Center will present on-line resources for successfully tracing your Czech and Slovak ancestors at the Cuyahoga West Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society meeting on Wednesday, November 19 from 7:00-8:00 pm in the Porter Room. There will be a social time with refreshments from 6:30-7:00 pm.

Get Moving with Nia, 11/20, 7pm

Enjoy this blend of dance arts, martial arts and the healing arts that will invite your spirit, mind, body and emotions to play and find joy!

Amanda Brown will teach a Classic Nia class on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 7-8pm in the Porter Room. Class is appropriate for all age and ability levels.
