Sisters in Crime, Inc. is an organization established to support women mystery writers.  Founded in 1987, the membership is made up of women (and men) who are devoted to the mystery genre and includes authors, readers, fans, booksellers, and librarians.  Their mission statement:

"The mission of Sisters in Crime is to promote the professional development and advancement of women crime writers to achieve equality in the industry."

I would like to thank Sisters in Crime for their wonderful program "We Love Libraries!"  Now in its second year, the contest awards $1,000 each month to a library chosen at random from all those entered.  The only stipulation for the winning library is that the grant be spent on books, but not just those in the mystery genre, or written by a Sisters in Crime author.  Westlake Porter Public Library is entered and though we haven't won yet, it is nice to see the variety of libraries who have been chosen as winners.
