Couponing Librarian, 07/15/2011: Recyclebank - Earn Points, Get Rewards, Live Green

One of my favorite Web sites is Recyclebank, not only because it offers great coupons, but also because it promotes environmentally friendly living. By taking pledges, responding to surveys, and recycling certain items, you can earn points that you can redeem for great savings opportunites, from gift cards to coupons to magazine subscriptions and more.

How to sign up: Registration is free. Once you register, if you have a Facebook account, you can log in quickly using your Facebook information. You can also download an iPhone app or an Android app for your mobile phone.

How to earn points: Click the Earn Points tab to view all of the current point-earning opportunities available, such as recycling Kashi boxes, electronics, and Ziploc bags. Also check out the Green Your Vacation contest in which you can earn points and also be entered to win prizes.

How to redeem rewards: When you have accumulated a certain amount of points, click Get Rewards and use your points to acquire coupons and gift cards in a variety of categories such as entertainment, automotive, food, home and office, pets, and restaurants. Check this section often as many of the point totals are often reduced, which means you don't need as many points to get a desired reward. For example, right now under the Summer Specials category, you can get a coupon for $10 off a purchase of $50 or more at Macy's for 80 points, which is 20 points less than the regular amount. You can print some coupons at home, while other rewards will need to be mailed to you.

How to live more environmentally friendly: Click on the Live Green tab and read articles that answer your questions about and provide ideas for environmentally friendly living. Explore topics such as recycling, home energy, greening your school, buying green, and more.
