Teen volunteers will help younger students retain their reading skills during summer vacation. Sign up once per week for the Tuesday or Thursday session that suits you best. This program is designed for children entering grades 1-3 who need extra help practicing reading. Please note: The Book Buddies program is not a tutoring service. Teen Book Buddy volunteers are neither expected nor trained to correct learning problems or to teach children to read.

Keep up your skills during summer vacation! Drop in each week for grade-appropriate educational games and activities. Teen volunteers and staff from the Westlake City Schools will be on hand to assist. Parents of children under age 9 are required to stay in the library while their children are participating in Brain Games.

Batman Day

Batman turns 75 this year and DC Comics is celebrating Batman Day on Wednesday, July 23. Join us to celebrate the Caped Crusader's anniversary. All ages welcome!

Activities:

I. Meet Batman between 11 AM and 12 PM.

II. Scavenger Hunt
- Starts at 9 AM
- Open to all ages
- Limited to the first 25 patrons
- Go to Popular Materials to receive your packet
- Participants' names will be entered in a raffle

III. Draw-it-Yourself Batwall
- 9 am to 9 pm
- Open to all ages
- Go to Youth Services for drawing materials
- a prize for "The Best in Show" (voted by staff) will be awarded

IV. Batman Trivia
- 9 am to 9 pm
- Open to all ages
- Go to Reference Services to receive trivia page
- Participant's names will be entered in a raffle

V. Batman Coloring Packet
- Open to all ages
- Available all day
- Go to Youth Services to receive a coloring packet
