This documentary describes the effort of hundreds of people who worked at the United States Naval Computing Machine Laboratory from 1942-1946 in Dayton, Ohio.
In Dayton, Ohio in 1938 the President of the National Cash Register company, Edward Deeds, made the decision to hire to Joseph R. Desch, to create an electronics laboratory to aid in the manufacturing process of cash registers. By 1941 this electronics laboratory was fulfilling contracts for the National Defense Research Committee (NDRC). Soon they were tapped by the Federal government to help in decoding German codes and breaking the Enigma machine.
This documentary tells the story of thousands of men and women, both military and civilians who worked in Dayton, Ohio to aid the American war effort.
