Local Creators

Westlake Porter Public Library offers a collection of works from local Northeastern Ohio authors, musicians, directors, and filmmakers. This collection is designed to give new and emerging creators, especially those whose materials are not yet widely reviewed or stocked by libraries and bookstores, an opportunity to be shared with friends and neighbors.

Local Creator Collections

Check out the collection in our catalog or browse the selection across from the Holds Pickup area.

Local Music Collection

Talented musicians of all ages and genres call Westlake home. From headliners to budding stars, we shine the spotlight on them here.

Donate Music to the Collection

Are you a local composer or songwriter of original music interested in being featured? Are you connected in some way with a local musician—a neighbor, friend, or relative? Connect with the community by sharing music through the library and reach new audiences through the library that you don't see in the venues where you typically play.

The music scene that we have in the Westlake area is rich and vibrant. We hope to fill a variety of genres in the collection and help local artists grow their fan base.

The library will accept submissions of local music from any genre. The artist, music, or production must have either a past or present tie to the Westlake area.

The music must be in CD form and should be mostly original.

WPPL has a diverse collection of books by authors with a connection to Westlake. From adult nonfiction to children’s picture books, area authors have shared their work with their neighbors.

Donate Books to the Collection

If you or someone you know is an author from Northeast Ohio or has written a book that takes place in Northeast Ohio, consider donating the book to the Local Creators Collection. All donated books are evaluated by the library’s team of selectors and are subject to the WPPL Materials Selection Policy.

E-books are also considered for inclusion in the collection if they are published through a digital publisher and available through one of the library’s e-book vendors’ platforms.
