Between 1939 and 1945 the Axis and Allied powers waged a battle for supremacy on the high seas of the Atlantic Ocean. Both sides wanted to blockade the ports of the other to prevent much need supplies and food from reaching their enemies. Local History librarian Chad Statler will discuss the importance of the Battle of Atlantic to both sides as well as the role of the convoy system that was instrumental to bringing the United States' vast economic power to bear against the Axis.
