In 1692 in the Massachusetts colony, Rebecca Nurse, a devout Puritan homemaker and mother of eight was accused of being a witch. Join Women in History as we learn more about this tragic episode.
Rebecca Nurse is one of the most unlikely persons to be accused as a witch in the Salem Witch Trials in Salem Village, Massachusetts, 1692. She was a devout Puritan, homemaker, mother of eight children, and a highly respected member of the community. Reasons are many for the rise of witchcraft accusations during that time and nineteen innocent victims fell to the hysteria.
Rebecca shares what life was like in Salem, as a Puritan, as a wife, as a New World settler and how politics, religion, economics and human nature all converged to create the “perfect storm” for this unfortunate and tragic blot in our nation’s history.
Women in History is dedicated to the education of all people, regardless of age, race or socio-economic status through the dramatic recreation of the lives of notable women in history.
