In 1692 in the Massachusetts colony, Rebecca Nurse, a young devout Puritan homemaker and mother of eight was accused of being a witch. Join Women in History as we learn more about this tragic episode.
Women in History presents Rebecca Nurse & the Salem Witch Trials.
Rebecca Nurse is one of the most unlikely persons to be accused as a witch in the Salem Witch Trials in Salem Village, Massachusetts, 1692. She was a devout Puritan, homemaker, mother of eight children, and a highly respected member of the community. Reasons are many for the rise of witchcraft accusations during that time and nineteen innocent victims fell to the hysteria. Rebecca shares what life was like in Salem, as a Puritan, as a wife, as a New World settler and how politics, religion, economics and human nature all converged to create the “perfect storm” for this unfortunate and tragic blot in our nation’s history.
