The German attack into France isn't completely a tale of lightning fast tank movements. Steve Pettyjohn explains how the Wehrmacht relied on horses and marching infantry for much of their movement.
The Fall of France in 1940 is often seen as the height of the German Blitzkrieg offensive, characterized by highly mobile tank forces that simply overwhelmed their opponents. Steve Pettyjohn will explain how this largely a myth. The majority of German forces relied on horses to pull equipment and wagons and many of the soldiers marched into battle. At several key junctures German forces could have been held up or delayed in their campaign which may have rewritten the history of the French defeat at the beginning of WWII.
