World at War Forum
World at War Forum: In December 1944, the German Army launched a massive surprise attack against American forces in the Ardennes forest of Belgium and France. The Americans were badly outnumbered [29 German Divisions to 4 American] and composed of exhausted "burned out" units or brand new rookies. While outnumbered, out generalled and outgunned, one thing the Americans were not was outfought as they rallied to give the Germans a stunning defeat. Join us at the World At War Forum on Tuesday, December 6 at 7 pm in the Porter Room at Porter Public Library to discuss this pivotal battle. Frank O'Grady and his colleagues from the 101st Airborne Division reenactment group will return to tell us about the critical role of their unit at Bastogne and how they helped turn the tide of battle. If you enjoyed their stories of the Normandy invasion in June, you won't want to miss this session.
Do you have a Battle of the Bulge story you would like to share at our meeting? Did you have a relative at the Battle? Bring a story and a picture if you have one!
