Cleveland's Prohibition Era Mob Bosses
Tuesday, August 29
7:00pm - 8:30pm
Westlake Porter Public Library
Porter RoomProhibition was one of the bloodiest periods in Cleveland history. Try to keep track of the mob hits as rival gangs battle to control the city's rackets.
Dennis R. Sutcliffe is a local historian and master storyteller and for over ten years he has rekindled forgotten memories of Cleveland's history. As Prohibition dried up America, enterprising criminals stepped in to slake the thirst of Americans. However, brutal violent gangs fought with each other to control the rackets and Cleveland was no exception. Many of Cleveland's mob bosses failed to survive the era, others managed to live to a ripe old age, while a few others became respected icons of the community. Join Dennis as he regales us with stories from Prohibition-era Cleveland and its colorful mob bosses.
